How Should You Choose Your New Mattress?

If you are looking for any new mattress in Glendale then you need to consider a number of performance factors.

In this post, we shall talk about all those factors that you need to know before visiting any matress store in Glendale.

  1. Size

Usually, there are 6 standard sizes of mattresses available as follows:

  • Twin
  • Twin XL
  • King
  • Queen
  • Full/Double,
  • California King

Few models are available in additional sizes e.g. Short Queen or Full XL

  1. Thickness

Usually, the thickness of any common mattress is minimum 10” in height however it can vary between 5” to 15”. Depending upon your weight you may choose the thickness.

  1. Durability

The life of the mattress will depend upon the materials used. Average foam mattress may have about 7 years of life and latex or airbed mattress may have much better life.

  1. Conforming ability

There are many different kinds of mattresses available to properly align with the body e.g. pressure points and spine of the sleeper.

  1. Firmness

The firmness preference usually depends upon the body weight and the sleep position. Medium firm mattress may suit for those who prefer to sleep on their back or stomach but soft mattress will suit who sleeps on his sides.

  1. Support

Support is needed to keep the bed flat so that it can align properly with the pelvis and spine and the body does not sink inside the bed.

  1. Motion isolation

When couple sleeps on the bed then movement of one sleeping partner must not affect the other.

  1. Temperature neutrality

Foam mattresses are the warmest as they have very solid support cores while latex mattresses maybe little cooler. Hybrids and innersprings can be the most temperature-neutral choice as they have better air circulation in the support core

  1. Edge support

Some types of mattress like all-latex and all-foam models can provide very little or no edge support. Mattresses having coil-based support cores which is reinforced within high-density foam typically will offer best edge support.

  1. Odor potential

When the mattress is new then it may emit off-gassing particles which may offer unpleasant smell. However, the odor will go away after few days.

  1. Noise potential

Any mattress with inner springs or hybrid mattress can produce lots of noises due to the coils. Any foam or latex mattresses will be much silent and will not disturb if you ever turn your side.

  1. Weight

Latex and hybrid mattress may be little heavier as compared to airbed, foam or innerspring mattresses.
